I bought my Mk V Golf GTI new in September 2006 as a retirement present. I chose Diamond Pearlescent Black as the colour because it looks stunning with the pearlescent flake in the paint. Even when specifying paintwork protection from new, the car did not look as perfect as I had expected, with minor scratches and swirls present at delivery. I did my best to rectify matters with hours of polishing and waxing, but I never achieved the ultimate look I wanted and no matter how careful I was in washing and drying the car, more swirls appeared over time. The final straw came when I had to have some remedial paintwork done under warranty, the bodyshop made a pigs ear of respraying the bonnet, leaving overspray/solvent etched into the roof of the car. Enough was enough. I found Wonder Detail from the Detailing World website and contacted Paul to discuss my requirements.
The initial discussion process was very professional and we agreed a paint correction/detailing process to address the paintwork defects (Wonder 1 Detail). I left the car with Paul for a week whilst I went on holiday and collected it when I returned. Although it was raining when I picked up the car, it was evident that Paul had done a great job in that the paintwork was evidently much smoother and the rainwater was beading beautifully across all panels. I saw the car in it’s full glory the next day when the sun eventually decided to come out and I was well impressed with the depth of the shine and the smooth mirror like surface which made the pearlescent flakes really pop. The result was far better than when I had picked the car up from new.
Paul explained that prior to any paint correction work being carried out, comprehensive paint thickness readings would be taken from all body panels and this would allow an appropriate correction strategy. My car had the bonnet repainted under warranty some weeks ago, however this work had unfortunately resulted in some overspray/solvent being etched into the clearcoat of the roof, which I was led to believe had been repainted. The paint thickness results showed this not to be the case and this is a matter I am now taking up with the dealer, as the levels are significantly below the rest of the car.

I bought my ex-demo performance saloon from the main dealers. Some of us know that car dealers have no idea about washing cars. They use the same bucket of water and the same sponge wiping down the entire forecourt. My car would have been one of these victims and under normal daylight I didn’t see any fine scratches called swirls.

When we sealed the deal at the dealers with a coat of free diamondbrite it magnified all the imperfections on the paintwork. My heart sank and upset wasn’t how I would describe how I felt. The car did return to the dealers to try to put the paint work right but it was only a slight improvement. I then went online to look for valet and paint correction specialist. I also looked at car club’s forums and I learnt a lot about washing and drying from these forums but I needed more, I needed someone who loves cars no matter it's size, type or condition. I started asking for Detailers in the North East and to cut a long story short… I found Paul from Wonder Detail.

We communicated through emails and then I visited him for a quote on a Sunday. Paul’s prices are reasonable and so I asked him to work on my car. He arrived on a dull Wednesday morning 7am and worked thru till 8pm. I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t stop for food but we continued to offer and he just kept working and working. He has dedication and quickly finds a groove to work too.

I didn’t see the car until the next day, and GOD was my car shiny. The sun came out and light was bouncing off every panel of the Phantom Black Paint. Every panel was like some sort of special material that acted like a mirror, reflecting it’s surroundings and trapping every detail on it’s curves. My neighbours were stunned. We live by the main access road in our estate… every driver turned to look at this glistening black jewel on our drive as they passed. Even a stop off at our local Tesco pulled a small crowd outside its main entrance, I heard voices of people passing by making good comments about my car and as I was putting my child into the safety seat… one guy who knew me said, “you bought a new car?” and I told him about Paul. This car is now turning heads more than ever before… people are not just looking twice, they are turning to look a few times as they carry on walking and some people would just stand and stare.

When the time came to sell my car I decided it needed to look its best. There are always lots of Audis for sale, so competition is stiff, and I knew I had to make mine stand out. I had seen Paul’s work before on cars belonging to family, and knew it would be just the thing to make people believe that my car was special. My car is my baby. I work full time and rarely have time to clean her to the extent she should be cleaned! I refuse to pay so called 'specialist' garages to do it as I've seen first hand the bad workmanship, so, I looked on the internet and found Paul's detailing service 'Wonder Detail'. I gave him a call and asked him if he could give me a quote! The very next day he came to my house and gave me his opinion on what he thought she needed to spruce her up. I thought his quote was very reasonable and decided to go ahead and wow am I glad I did. I didn't recognise her! She looked like she had just come out of the showroom. The wash was superb and the products he used for the finish brought back all her shine! The detail on the alloys was excellent! He really did do wonders.

I've been a fan of automatic car washes for all of my driving life, and never attempted anything more complex than a bucket and sponge at home. It wasn't until I found Paul and his services that I realised how much damage these things had done to my car! The paintwork had gone dull, and no matter how much I cleaned, I just couldn't get it to shine. It's a classic car, so I thought only a respray would fix it. However, after contacting Paul and him viewing the car and taking some digital readings of the paintwork, I was amazed to find out that it could be restored to like new after only a days work and on my doorstep!

I cannot begin to describe how huge Paul's attention to detail is. I caught a glimpse of him at one point working tirelessly to try and remove a tiny mark next to one of the door hinges! I have to say that this attention to detail is reflected in the final product where the car is concerned - it looks absolutely stunning. In fact, I could safely go so far as to say it looks brand new.

It has always been a dream of mine to own a classic Mercedes and I found one that fitted the bill perfectly which was in excellent mechanical order. The car was finished in a lovely dark blue colour but over the years the paint work had faded and the swirling effect on the paintwork made the car look awful!

Paul carried out a full paintwork restoration for me on the car and now the car is truly my dream car. The paint is back to how it was the day it left the factory and looks as good as if it had been resprayed. The quality of Paul's work is excellent and he has saved me a small fortune in not having to get it resprayed.

Got Paul to do my car with a view to selling it. The result was so amazing I can't bear to part with it now and have decided to keep it. I don't think it's looked like this since it came out of the showroom. In fact, I doubt it was ever this good! Paul certainly lives up to his name - he really did do wonders. I've always enjoyed washing and waxing my cars since i passed my test, me and my mates would usually spend a sunny sunday polishing up but with my clio cup i decided i needed something extra done. All the hand polishing in the world wasnt going to get rid of the swirl marks and light scratches that i could see. friends would comment on the brightness of my car but i knew it was still lacking an edge.

I heard about the paint correction process and had a search about when Paul offered his services so i thought why not give it a go. we discussed a quote which suited us both with me helping out when i could/didnt end up getting in his way.

On the day Paul arrived at 8am-ish and worked right through til 6pm only stopping to drink and eat once for about 5 mins.

Total dedication and the results show it. all imperfections that Paul could get rid of have gone and the car now had a deeper shine to it, reflections are even more clearer and the car looks beautiful during a sunset now.

So overall i am very pleased with the results and i hope i can keep on top of things now. Would recommend Paul to anyone and will use him again without a doubt.

This was just what a car of this quality needed. I wasn't sure at first whether the solution Paul offered would be worthwhile. What I can say was that it certainly is. The whole car felt like new. The paint work was gleaming and the inside was as good as new. The car looks good, feels swell and smells nice. It looks like new.
